The Glorious Hunt

I hope you had some time this weekend to reflect on that peculiar tradition that is known as an Easter Egg Hunt.

Perhaps you reflected on the various nature of those who participate in the Hunt.  

Such as the men who fear the anxiety of the battle, but put on their brave faces anyway because they know the rewards outweigh the risks.

Or perhaps you reflected on those who suddenly gain warrior strength and speed as they rush from egg to egg.

Or perhaps you found yourself admiring those who remain calm and collected during the general pandemonium in order to use their ingenuity to achieve victory.

Or perhaps you were amazed by those who become so confused in that very same pandemonium that they forget what it was exactly they are supposed to be gathering.

Or perhaps you pondered those who are content to simply find one egg, delicately place it in their basket, and guard it fiercely.

Or maybe you found enjoyment by pondering those who frequently stop to make sure their spoils are worth the effort.

Or maybe you like to think about those who are just happy to be there.

However, the people we should really be reflecting on are those who pilfer goods from innocent children in the name of "They could use less sugar anyway."

Something should really be done about those people.

Easter Cupcakes

Last week, my roommate Alex made this delicious cake in the spirit of Easter.  It tasted like Easter - full of light and life and...coconuts.  It was delightful.

It inspired us to make cupcakes with the Burnett girls while they were here this weekend.

First we (Ashley) baked some cupcakes.

Then we (Ashley) frosted some cupcakes.

Then we (Ashley and Ashlyn and Kelly and Kaylee (try saying all those names 4 times fast)) dusted the cupcakes with coconut Easter grass.  It lasted about 30 seconds before we (Kaylee and Ashlyn) got bored.

Then we (Kelly) borrowed some of Ashlyn's Easter candy to decorate the cupcakes.  We (Kelly) were  promptly told that the candy was not brought for that purpose.

Despite the cupcakes not being that big of a hit, we managed to find other ways to have fun.  Like watching Anastasia for the fifth time, fighting to the death in chess and checkers, playing with the Rapunzel doll, coloring, going for walks and picking flowers and taking pictures, and smelling pretty Easter bouquets which I must say are the absolute best gift anyone could ever give on Easter (thanks Russ and Anne!).

We (Ashlyn) also had fun hiding behind furniture...

while trying to chew 3/4 of the entire bubble tape we (Ashlyn) shoved in our mouth while no one was looking...

Sidenote: has anyone ever noticed how dusty bubble tape is?

By the time the day was done, we (Kaylee) were pretty tired and we (Ashley) were ready for a nap.
