Sunday night, we channeled our inner David Tutera to put on a bling-blow (pronounced blough, like plough but with a b) birthday dinner party for Adrienne.
To truly represent Mr. Tutera, I tried my hand at a personally designed flower arrangement surrounded by sparkle and candlelight.
We began the night with cocktail hour and serving pina-coladas. Let's just say that Kelly might be missing her true calling as a bartender - she mixed the drinks perfectly.
We then served bacon wrapped jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese as appetizers. Let's also say that burning my thumbs for 24 hours from scraping out jalapeno seeds was well worth the final result (if anyone ever suffers from jalapeno burn, I would recommend running the burn under the hottest water possible followed by a lemon juice soak. It worked wonders (thank you for the google research, Kelly).
Our first course was a crisp salad served with a homemade raspberry vinegarette topped with pears, feta cheese, and "sugared" walnuts (The sugared walnuts turned out to be more like candied walnut brittle. Oops.).
By request of the birthday girl, the main meal consisted of poppy seed chicken, rosemary potatoes, and homemade, salted, twice-baked rolls. (Twice bake consists of leaving your dough to rise on the stove and checking it an hour later to find that the outer crust of the dough had already baked. Oops.)
We retired to the living room for some birthday themed games (Boys vs. girls, with girls beating the boys by more than half their points. Oops.).
Then we sang and blew out candles on a delicious chocolate chocolate strawberry cake

It was a dinner party for the books, but the best part was getting our bling on and celebrating a good friend's birth and hoping that we made David Tutera proud.

Ashley, that all looks amazing! Especially the bacon-wrapped jalepeno. Will you throw a bling-blow party when you come out here?
